The Schickling Family Story & Heritage

Pine Grove Nursery was formed in 1951 as a partnership of friends, C.R. Schickling and James Long in rural Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.  Sixty-five plus years later, the nursery thrives in producing bare root seedlings and transplants on over 35 acres of farmland.

Also available are cut Christmas trees, B&B trees, and shrubs on over 70 acres.  The nursery also offers evergreens 3'-7' to be planted as a memorial.  Orders are taken anytime and trees are dug in May or September.

Mr. Long retired and withdrew from the partnership in 1983.  The nursery was incorporated soon after.  C.R. Schickling, CEO, remained active in the nursery until his death in June 2002.  Rick Schickling, grandson of C.R., worked as general manager until his retirement in 2017, at which time Alex "Mike' Mitchell elevated his role from assistant to general manager.

In March, 2019, Bob Schell and Betsy Schell, also grandchildren of C.R. Schickling, purchased the nursery.  With our experienced staff we look forward to continuing the historic excellent service for our longstanding customers and ensuring new customers are met with the same standards!
