Pine Grove Nursery
The largest segment of the nursery’s production is bare root seedlings and transplants grown in outdoor beds.
The motto of Pine Grove Nursery, Inc. has always been and will continue to be, “For the Most Particular Buyers.” This is a policy adhered to by all employees, as quality control is an important issue.
History
Pine Grove Nursery was formed in 1951 as a partnership of friends, C.R. Schickling and James Long, in rural Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. Over 50 years later, the nursery thrives producing bare root seedlings and transplants on over 35 acres of farmland. Also cut Christmas trees, and B&B trees, and shrubs on over 70 acres.
Mr. Long retired and withdrew from the partnership in 1983. The nursery was incorporated soon after with Rick Schickling, grandson of C.R, taking responsibility as general manager, and Alex “Mike” Mitchell as assistant manager. Mr. Schickling remained as CEO and active in the nursery until his death in June of 2002, at which time Rick took more responsibility and full charge of the day-to-day operations.
